Behind The Scenes

In the office we were discussing that we need to create new images for our SS19 collection for social media and our website so we decided to make a field trip with the models, the dogs and the garments to a lovely garden in Finchampstead.

Our models are university students who have helped us previously with creating social media campaigns and lookbook shoots for the brand.

As the dresses that were chosen to be photographed for the shoot had been from the SS19 collection, we thought that the setting of the shoot should be outside somewhere nice, preferably an area which had a lot of bright florals. This is because that sort of setting would work perfectly with the bright colours of the dresses and reflect some of the floral prints featured in them. We ended up agreeing to shoot in the garden of one of the model’s grandparents’ house because of how lovely their garden was. It was the perfect setting.

Before the shoot could even take place, we created a mood board of photoshoot inspiration including poses, poses with dogs and garden settings. We had to keep an eye on the weather because we wanted to make sure that it was a nice, warm and sunny day so that we could get the best results in the photographs and help with creating the overall mood for the shoot. We love working with these two models because they are easy going, naturally beautiful, photogenic and they’re BFFs!

I really enjoyed the day because I find the task of setting up and directing a shoot really interesting. The opportunity of being a fashion intern and helping out with this shoot was really helpful for me personally because it will be beneficial for me in the future, for example during my third year at University, when I need to plan my own shoots. The social media shoot was quite different to the shoots that I’ve done before.

Whilst we were taking photos, inevitably we had some funny and unexpected photos in between the successful ones of the models and the dogs!

While you’re trying to get the perfect shot, it seems like you have to take a hundred different photos just to be able to get the perfect shot!
