This week in the office we have been talking about fashion bloggers and how the idea of blogging about fashion related topics has become quite popular over the last few years. Nowadays you will see a lot of fashion bloggers who are invited to fashion shows or flying all around the world to take photos for their posts about travelling. Fashion bloggers also write about different subjects such as lifestyle, beauty, food, art and many more.
Fashion Bloggers
When you think of someone who is a fashion blogger, you’re likely to picture someone who has their own website and updates it frequently with posts about their favourite pieces that they own or outfits that they have been wearing lately. However, nowadays fashion bloggers don’t even necessarily have to have a blog but instead they use social media platforms like Instagram to upload and tag pictures of their OOTD’s for the world to see. Instagram is a way to share the same kinds of posts that the OG bloggers would post back in the day, but in a much quicker manner. Vlogging (Video blogging) is also another more recent form of blogging about fashion which doesn’t necessarily require writing.
Some of the most popular fashion bloggers who started their blogs very early on are Susie Lau (Style Bubble), Bryan Yambao (BryanBoy), Tavi Gevinson (Style Rookie), Rumi Neely (Fashion Toast), Jane Aldridge (Sea of Shoes), Aimee Song (Song of Style) and Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist). They are considered as some of the OG fashion bloggers. Below is a collage of images of some of the fashion bloggers from when they initially started their blogs back in the mid noughties in comparison to now.
Some Of Our Favourites...
After becoming a well-known or up and coming fashion blogger, a lot of bloggers have been given new opportunities to excel further in their careers. For example bryanboy started up his blog in 2004 and became famous very quickly to the point that he was being invited to sit front row during fashion weeks and in 2008 he even had a Marc Jacobs bag named after him (BB ostrich bag.) A lot of these OG fashion bloggers have gone on to appear in campaigns for huge brands, to attending fashion weeks or other fashion related events or even being able to start up their own brands.
Below are a few Instagram profiles of some of our favourite bloggers here at Mellaris.
