Tulle and feathers and pastels- Oh my! Once again Couture Week leaves us dazzled by craftsmanship and elegance, yet it was the refreshing colour palettes that steer way from traditional autumnal tones that inspired us most this season. The term ‘Couture’ itself breathes an exotic air that knowingly transports us to a realm of fantasy, however what exactly does it mean to establish a Couture collection?
Pets In Fashion
In preparation for our SS20 photoshoot, we're looking back to our last social media photoshoot we had and how much fun we had! For our SS19 photoshoot we decided to feature some of the dogs that belonged to some of the models to create some sweet photos.
Through researching, I found out about a photoshoot that the brand Coach did a photoshoot in 2015 which was a campaign that “celebrates the dogs in our lives and captures the pups’ unique personalities as they “model” Coach’s Fall 2015 star bags.”
Makeup and Hair
As we add the finishing touches to our SS20 collection, we begin our countdown for our Photoshoot in 10 days. In preparations for our photoshoot we begin to brainstorm how we want the final look, from creating a theme to finding a location, accessories, models, photographer, poses, props, hair and makeup. This week's topic is an insight to why hair and makeup is so important in a fashion photoshoot and where we source our inspiration.
Graduate Fashion Week 2019
For many fashion students, one of the things that they look forward to at the end of their terms/years is Graduate Fashion Week. For students in their first or second years, it’s the perfect opportunity for them to go to an event to see what kinds of things are being explored by young designers from other Universities. It’s also good for second years (like me) to possibly see what everything will be leading up to at the end of their next and final year.

Fashion in film and TV
In the office we often talk about the TV shows, films or books that we have been reading recently or can’t wait to start. We also enjoy recommending each other different things to start watching or reading. From all the conversations that we’ve had about these topics, we’ve found out that we’ve watched a lot of the same things and enjoy the same kinds of genres. The topic of this week’s discussion is fashion in TV and film.
What is Ladies Day?
In the dictionary Ladies’ Day is defined as “a day on which women receive a special privilege (as attendance as guests at a meeting of a men’s club.)”
Shapewear
Today it’s fairly common for women to wear various types of shapewear (corsets, waist cinchers, control camisoles, control pants or tights, bodyshapers and many more) in order to mold their bodies so that they have an hourglass figure or to feel a little more comfortable when wearing a bodycon garment. You can also see how corsets have influenced fashion designers and how they use corsets as a part of outerwear in an outfit.
Behind The Scenes
In the office we were discussing that we needed new images for our SS19 social media campaign and website so we decided to make a field trip with the models, the dogs and the garments to a lovely garden in Finchampstead.

One of the most talked about pregnancies at the moment is that of The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who’s supposed due date is in late April/early May. In February. The baby shower is an event that is quickly becoming more popular around the world as previously it has only really been a big thing in the US.
